Since the first wolf wandered into a campsite and was given some food, dogs have been loyal protectors and friends to man. K9s were probably the start, but animal companions come in all shapes, sizes, and species. Dogs, Cats, Birds, Fish, Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Horses, Amphibians, Reptiles, and Rodents, to name a few. It seems that humans can’t get enough of our furry, scaley, feathery friends.

We work with our pets, we play with our pets, and we travel with them too. Sometimes they are the only ones that will listen to our problems and offer us unconditional love.

We right songs about them, they are on TV, in movies, and we are mesmerized watching them live or in video. There is an irreplaceable comfort that comes from a dog at your feet and a cat on your lap.

There is so much emotional support and physical well-being that we get from these loyal friends. They teach us about empathy, responsibility, and discipline. They keep us active and give us purpose. They make sure that we are never lonely and always loved.

Here are some of my favorite benefits of having pets

B – Breaking the Ice, being more sociable, and bonding with other owners

A – Affection Mentors. They teach us how to love unconditionally.

C – Calming Companionship and Emotional Support

O – Oxytocin, the happiness hormone can lead towards better health

N - Never Alone when I am with my Friend.

So Come, Sit, Stay, and listen to the stories of our favorite pets.
